Hollywood criticizing itself is something we’ve seen many times in cinema. In that sense, Outcome (2026) offers nothing new. Jonah Hill writes and directs a comedy that satirizes the industry by exposing its modern problems and the methods executives use for crisis management. The idea serves as an interesting starting point. Still, its execution is bland, and the film delivers only isolated moments that fail to sustain either the story or the message the director aims to convey.

Reef Hawk (Keanu Reeves) is a Hollywood legend who has been out of the spotlight for several years. Just as he plans his big comeback, an intimate video surfaces that threatens to destroy everything he has built. This is where Ira (Jonah Hill), an old friend of Reef and a crisis management expert, comes in. Ira’s strategy is for Reef to revisit his past and attempt to apologize to everyone he has hurt to figure out who is trying to extort the famous actor.

The movie cannot decide whether to fully embrace acidic comedy or commit to a sharp satire. The film remains stuck in neutral territory, offering only scattered glimpses of its unrealized potential. Not even Keanu Reeves’ charisma can lift a story that lacks soul. Jonah Hill attempts to tackle a timely and highly relevant subject, and the dark side of the industry is exposed and directly confronted, but the execution ultimately falls short.

It seems that Outcome is unwilling to take risks with a more incisive critique of cancel culture and Hollywood’s hypocrisy. What we are left with is a superficial film that fails to resonate and wastes many interesting ideas that are never fully developed.
